3 on 6 Smile

3 on 6 Smile, tooth restoration, dental implants Gdansk

The 3 on 6 Smile is a method of reconstructing missing teeth, using 6 dental implants that support 3 independent and separate prosthetic bridges in the left, front and right side of the upper or/and lower. The solution restores the occlusion and the aesthetic appearance of the smile. In contrast to conventional removable dentures, 3 on 6 Smile also increases comfort of everyday use and food consumption

In the spring of 2022, I underwent comprehensive prosthetic work at the Smile clinic in Poland. 22 dental crowns and bite adjustment. The clinic is very quality conscious, so several tests were performed to get the best result. 22 dental crowns is a lot and I was a little nervous about such big changes. Now, 3 months after the changes, I can only say that I do not feel any discomfort or pain. My smile is so beautiful that others praise my beautiful teeth. They can't tell the difference between dental crowns and it's really nice. My bite is correct and I can eat everything without problems. With a clear conscience, I can recommend the clinic to anyone who wants or needs dental help. The most professional dental work I have ever seen.

I have been a patient of Project Smile for approximately 5 years and this review follows my third cycle of treatment. The clinic's equipment and staff are top notch and I have never been disappointed with the standard of care. Best of all is the value for money for advanced therapies, which are exorbitantly priced in my country. Highly recommended

3 on 6 Smile – for whom?

If, for various reasons, your smile is not complete, the 3 on 6 Smile method may be the right solution. This method is for you if you:

If  any of the above apply to you, make an appointment for a consultation at Project Smile where we will design a smile according to your current oral conditions and needs.

What is
3 on 6 Smile?

The 3 on 6 Smile procedure involves replacing the patient’s missing teeth with 3 separate prosthetic bridges (4 connected teeth crowns), each supported on 2 implants (left, front, right), so 6 implants in total in the upper or/and lower jaw . The dental surgeon positions 6 implants (screws) in a precise location of the patient’s maxilla or/and mandible to which our prosthetic specialist attaches 3 separate individually designed 4-unit bridges (4 connected teeth crowns). It is a permanent solution that allows  you to restore bone stimulation, biting and chewing function, taste sensation, and a healthy smile.

In the first stage of the treatment, the dental surgeon positions 6 implants in the jawbone and puts on a custom-made fixed acrylic bridge prepared by the dental technician in the laboratory. After the implants have integrated with the bone (osseointegration), the prosthetic specialist can load the implants with 3 separate permanent bridges, each consisting of 4 connected teeth crowns. Which are very aesthetic, durable, easy to clean and maintain and will function for many years. The time between the implantation and the placement of the final prosthetic bridges depends on individual bone conditions and, if necessary, bone augmentation procedures, and usually takes 6 to 12 months.

3 independent and separate bridges, each on 2 implants (3 on 6 Smile) is an excellent alternative for people who are not satisfied with the use of conventional removable dentures, and want to increase their comfort of life, eating, regain a full set of teeth and self-confidence

The3 on 6 implants Smile is an excellent alternative to both conventional removable dentures as well as the All on 6 implants Smile and All on 4 implants Smile procedures. Among these methods, it is the 3 on 6 implants Smile that provides the great fixation, stability and easiest maintenance and is therefore the most durable solution, if the patient’s bone conditions allow for it.

In addition, in a situation where it is necessary to fix or replace one of the implants or part of the prosthetic work, it is possible to replace one of the three bridges, and not the entire work, as is the case with the All on six implants Smile and All on four implants Smile methods.

All three methods are excellent solutions that can completely change your daily routine. However, there are a few differences worth considering:

  • Bone loss – the 3 on 6 implants Smile and All on 6 implants Smile method is recommended for patients with good bone conditions. When there is partial bone loss in the maxilla or mandible, it is not always possible to use those method without extensive bone augmentation procedures. In this case, the All on 4 Smile procedure is easier to be performed, as this methods can be applied successfully in most cases.
  • Hygiene – cleanliness with the 3 on 6 Smile is easier to be achieve than with other methods.
  • Aesthetics – all three methods (All on 4 Smile, All on 6 Smile, 3 on 6 Smile) allow you to enjoy anaesthetic new smile.

Prosthetic work is a device (prothesis) designed and farbicated by a dental technician in the laboratory, to be  placed on implants or own roots to restore missing or broke teeth.

A dental implant is a titanium screw ((like a tooth root)) with a special surface and shape. It is surgically positioned in the jawbone to integrate (“fuse”) with it so as to replace a missing root, restore bone stimulation and provide the basis for prosthetic work.

A fixed (non-removable) acrylic bridge is used for 6 to 12 months from the implantation until the implants integrate with the bone, soft tissue/gum heals and the final permanent prosthetic work can be placed. The acrylic prosthesis allows a patient after implant placement to leave the office with a full set of teeth and return to everyday life.

An acrylic bridge differs from a ceramic one in the material it is made of, and consequently its durability and aesthetics. Ceramic work allows for the most accurate reproduction of the appearance of natural teeth. Ceramics is also mechanically very strong, which allows you to bite hard foods. Prosthetic work made of ceramic is sometimes called the “permanent” or “final” one because it is the most aesthetic and durable solution, which serves its purpose and function for years.

The first stage of the treatment is a consultation with the dental surgeon and prosthetic specialist who decide on the patient’s suitability for the procedure upon performing a 3D CBCT (cone bean computed tomography) scan, comprehensive oral examination and taking into account oral and bone conditions to create a plan

After agreeing on a final treatment plan, the dental surgeon positions the implants and loads them with a fixed acrylic bridge , which is aesthetic and functional. Thanks to it, the patient can eat normally, feel comfortable and enjoy a natural-looking smile with replacement teeth in just one day.

After a period of 6 to 12 months ideally or longer, it is possible to replace the fixed acrylic bridge with a more permanent and durable ceramic bridge, which is prepared by a dental technician in the laboratory and custom made to the individual needs of the patient in terms of the materials used, colour and shape.

Prosthetic work used during the treatment at Project Smile can be divided into long term temporaries and more permanent prosthetics. After the first appointment, the prosthetic specialist fixes prosthetic work made of acrylic on the implants. This solution allows for a quick return to everyday, normal functioning. After a period of implant integration with the jawbone, the acrylic work can be replaced with the final, highly aesthetic and durable permanent ceramic work.

At Project Smile, we use Swiss Neodent implants, which belong to the Straumann Group. The manufacturer’s global reach ensures easy maintenance and the safety of our patients regardless of their current place of residence.

Prosthetic works are prepared by experienced Wiligała Lab which is an official Partner Laboratory of the Straumann Group. This cooperation allows us to create prosthetics individually designed to the needs of patients.

Is it possible to make a smile in a day? Yes and no! In the case of implant-supported prosthetics, thanks to proper preparation, it is possible to reconstruct teeth in a day. During the consultation appointment, the occlusion (i.e. the relation between the maxilla and the mandible) is registered, and a intraoral scan of the teeth and gums is being taken, so that the laboratory can prepare a  individually designed acrylic bridge. It is being fixed the implants on the day of the implant placement. For patients coming from abroad, we reserve time in the office for a consultation and bite registration and after a few days of lab fabrication to insert the implants and the acrylic bridge  work in just one day.

Then, taking into account the bone and occlusal conditions, the dentist will discuss the treatment plan and prepare a quote. After the visit, you can go home and finish your treatment at our clinic in Gdansk at a later time.

Option 2: consultation and treatment, 4-5 working days in our clinic. The most frequently chosen option by our patients.

During the stay, the patient undergoes a free initial consultation, during which the doctor will perform a three-dimensional computed tomography as well as a comprehensive intraoral examination and, taking into account bone and occlusal conditions, will present the final treatment plan. Thanks to the interview conducted before your arrival to Poland, the patient will have a pre-booked time in the doctor’s schedule for the necessary treatment. The first stage of the treatment ends with a permanent acrylic restoration that is aesthetically pleasing and functional. Thanks to it, the patient can enjoy a beautiful smile and return home.
